CELEBRATE. EDUCATE. PROTECT. EMPOWER.
When OUR CHILDREN know who they really are, the world will, too.
Guided by our unwavering commitment, We focus on four essential pillars that drive our mission and impact:
1
Celebrate
the beauty and brilliance of Black children, ensuring they feel seen and valued every day.
2
Educate
them about their worth, their history, and their limitless potential, providing them with tools for lifelong growth.
3
protect
their spirits by fostering safe, nurturing spaces where they can flourish, free from negativity.
4
empower
them to dream big, embrace their identity, and step confidently into the world, knowing they are loved and capable of anything.
This is our promise. This is young.Black+free.

THE VISION.
Nurturing Brilliance. Fostering Pride.
Young.Black+Free was born out of the urgent need to create a safe, affirming space for our children—Black children—who often navigate a world that does not always see their brilliance, beauty, or potential. Too many of our young ones grow up feeling unseen, undervalued, and uncertain of their worth. We knew something had to change.
That's why we created Young.Black+Free—because Our Children deserve to feel proud of who they are. Every piece we design, every resource we provide, is about empowering them to embrace their identity with confidence and strength. From the products they wear to the messages they carry, we are here to remind them of their greatness.
Black is beautiful, powerful, and undeniable—and our mission is to make sure every child knows it. Together, we nurture their brilliance and foster the pride they need to shine boldly.

Shenita Lyndell, founder of Young.Black+Free, is a passionate advocate for empowering children to realize their full potential. A transformational educator with degrees from Princeton University and eCornell, Shenita spent years closing the achievement gap in her classrooms, guiding her students to surpass their own goals. Her work in education revealed a deeper need to ensure that Black children not only excel academically but also feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.
With that mission, Shenita created Young.Black+Free—an intentional space where melanated children are reminded of their brilliance and beauty every day. Drawing from her own experiences as a mother and educator, she brings together carefully curated products and resources that celebrate identity, foster confidence, and inspire self-love. Through Young.Black+Free, Shenita is committed to giving every child the tools they need to thrive, dream big, and feel proud of who they are.
